LSU Block Grant

Louisiana State University (LSU) was awarded $10 million to recognize and support its research expertise relevant to the oil-spill crisis, including its environmental science and ecology, engineering, coastal science and humanities departments. After multiple rounds of a rigorously peer-reviewed competition, LSU funded thirty-one projects in two formal rounds of proposals, with the majority of the grant dollars committed to researchers across campus. Key players include LSU's School of the Coast & Environment, as well as the Colleges of Engineering and Science, though other units are represented. For additional information, read the LSU press release.

For an overview of the LSU Block Grant research, see the LSU Research Presentation from the GoMRI Fall 2011 Meeting in New Orleans.
