Summary:
The Smithsonian’s Ocean Portal was created in 2010 as an online complement to the Sant Ocean Hall in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Shortly after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Ocean Portal began sharing stories and information on the spill on the Gulf Oil Spill page within the Ocean Portal. In 2013, GoMRI partnered with Ocean Portal to continue sharing information about oil spill science and highlight ongoing research and results stemming from the GoMRI program. Pieces include research stories, interactive infographics, blog posts, interviews with GoMRI scientists, and more. Through this partnership, GoMRI science has also been featured in Smithsonian.com articles.
