Summary:
We propose to collect sand patties twice during the summer of 2011. Our first effort will be planned to occur as soon as possible. The second visit will be in the last week of August. During these several-day-long trips, we will walk the beaches and coastline of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, as well as the Chandeleur Islands. All samples will be photographed and archived at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and subsamples will be made available to colleagues. A report on the samples will be prepared.
