Summary:

In this project, we will collect water column samples from two cruises - the annual hypoxia cruise in the Texas-Louisiana shelf on board R/V Pelican and the oil spill site survey cruise on board R/V Cape Hatteras. These samples will be analyzed for dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon (both concentration and stable isotopes) and pH. The results of this research effort will be used to assess whether the Deepwater Horizon oil spill has sustained effect on the Gulf hypoxia and water column chemistry in above mentioned two areas, respectively.
